We place a lot of emphasis on the initial consultation visit when we carefully listen and discuss with you how you feel about your teeth and general appearance, exactly what you wish to achieve and why. We will also ask you questions about your general health to ensure there are no specific contra-indications for any of the treatments we may offer and also to help us help you just in case you are ever taken ill while in the practice.
It is also useful to gain some background about your work commitments and social life - we can thus tailor the treatments as much as possible to fit in with your ease of availability to attend for appointments (we can offer evening and Saturday morning appointments if this makes it easier) and feelings about any aspects of the treatment being visible to others (it is possible for everything we do to be totally concealed if this is important to you).
Patients are often motivated to seek treatment for a specific event, for example a wedding or graduation – if so, please let us know so we can make sure we take this into consideration when deciding the timing of your treatment. The more you tell us, the more we will be able to customise the treatment we offer to suit your specific requirements.
We will then assess the general condition, position, colour and shape of your teeth, bones and other structures of the mouth in order to recommend options for treatment. This may involve taking radiographs (x-rays), although your own dentist may send us radiographs he or she has already taken. We may also take photographs and impressions of the position of your teeth to refer to later and also help us to show you what we can see and what changes we feel need to be made.
We’ll then recommend for you the most appropriate and natural treatment and offer you a range of choice. You’ll find our treatments involve the minimum of care and inconvenience and our patients are constantly amazed how quickly improvements can be seen.
