Darren is a registered Orthodontic Specialist with the General Dental Council, a member of the European and American Association of Orthodontists and a member of the British Orthodontic Society. Locally he serves as the Secretary of the British Dental Association of Bristol and Bath and sits on the Local Dental Committee and Local Orthodontic Committee.

He qualified as a Dental Surgeon (BDS degree) in 1988 from Bristol University. After a series of hospital appointments and two spells in general practice, he embarked on a formal three year orthodontic training program at the University of Wales, Cardiff to qualify as a specialist orthodontist. Along the way, he gained his Royal College Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDSRCS), his Royal College Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth), his Masters Degree in Orthodontics (MScD) and two awards for his research.

Returning to Bristol in 1996, he set up the Great George Street Orthodontic
Centre and later the Kingswood Orthodontic Centre which have lead the way in Children’s Orthodontics in the Bristol area and continue to provide the majority of the care received today.

While working in both practices, he developed an interest and passion for treating adults and the additional challenges this presents. For many years, he has been a certified user of invisible braces (Invisalign and many lingual techniques) and has refined his skills to provide the widest range of treatment options for his adult patients. His enjoyment of Adult Orthodontics motivated him to open The Smile Suite, a private orthodontic practice, in 2006.

Darren has lectured on orthodontics both nationally and internationally and was a finalist in the 2006 national Probe Dentist of the Year awards. In his spare time, he enjoys a variety of sporting activities, traveling and architecture.
