Duration of treatment: If finishing treatment as quickly as possible is a priority, you might consider a self-ligating appliance. The lower friction has been shown to reduce overall treatment duration by an average of 3-4 months.
Appearance of appliance: If you would prefer a discreet appliance, you might
consider either ceramic braces or something totally invisible – lingual appliances are
fitted to the inside surfaces of teeth and as such are completely concealed.
Alternatively, braces can be coloured or even gold-plated to make individual fashion
statements.
Convenience: Some braces take longer to adapt to and clean than others.
The optimal adjustment intervals also vary between appliances.
